Two charged after shots fired in Huyton and Prescot

Two Merseyside men have been charged after three shots were fired at houses in Huyton and Prescot on Monday evening

Shots were fired on Paxton Road in Huyton and Shaw Lane in Prescot at around 6.30pm on 16 January.

Police were called to reports of shots being fired at a house on Paxton Road at around 6.30pm. A short time later a second report was received of shots being fired at a house on Shaw Lane.

When officers arrived at the scene they found that a number of shots had been fired at the front of the house on Paxton Road. No one was injured in this incident.

Officers attended the address on Shaw Lane and found that a number of shots had been fired at the rear of the house. Again, no one was injured.

Two men, aged 21 and 23, were arrested in the Huyton area a short time later.

They have both been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a firearm without a certificate.

They have been remanded in custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Wednesday 18 January.

Superintendent Matt Boyle said: "This was a reckless and dangerous incident that could have easily resulted in someone being seriously injured or killed."

"We are determined to take firearms off our streets and bring those responsible for using them to justice."

"We have made two arrests in connection with this incident and I would like to thank the members of the public who came forward with information."

"Our enquiries are ongoing and I would urge anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us."
