Nimesulide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that belongs to the group of sulphonanilides. Its chemical formula is C₁₃H₁₂N₂O₅S. Nimesulide is known for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties.

Mechanism of Action

Nimesulide works by selectively inhibiting cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), an enzyme involved in the inflammatory process. By blocking COX-2, Nimesulide reduces the production of prostaglandins, which are key mediators of inflammation, pain, and fever.

Clinical Applications of Nimesulide

Nimesulide is approved for the treatment of a variety of conditions, including:
