Football Recap: Graves County picks up fifth straight win at home
Eagles defeat McCracken County Mustangs 21-14
The Graves County Eagles football team defeated the McCracken County Mustangs 21-14 on Friday night at Eagles Field.
The Eagles (5-1) were led by running back Jayce Bayer, who rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
Quarterback Cade Peete also had a strong game, passing for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Defense comes up big in the fourth quarter
The Eagles' defense came up big in the fourth quarter, forcing two turnovers and holding the Mustangs (3-3) to just one first down.
Graves County's defense was led by linebacker T.J. Hawkins, who had 10 tackles and two interceptions.
Spears scores winning touchdown
With the game tied 14-14 in the fourth quarter, Graves County's J.R. Spears scored the winning touchdown on a 10-yard run with just over two minutes remaining.
McCracken County had a chance to tie the game on their final drive, but Graves County's defense held strong and forced a turnover on downs.
Eagles improve to 5-1 on the season
With the win, Graves County improves to 5-1 on the season.
The Eagles will be back in action next Friday night when they travel to Caldwell County.
