Maple Leafs Sign Defenceman Simon Benoit to Three-Year Extension

Maple Leafs Re-sign Bobby Mcmann

William Nylander to Make His Playoff Debut Tonight in Game 4 Against Boston

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenceman Simon Benoit to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Benoit, 25, has spent the past two seasons with the Maple Leafs, appearing in 76 games and recording 11 points (two goals, nine assists). The Quebec native was originally drafted by the Dallas Stars in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

In addition to Benoit, the Maple Leafs also re-signed forward Bobby Mcmann to a one-year contract extension. Mcmann, 26, has spent the past three seasons with the Maple Leafs, appearing in 92 games and recording 24 points (12 goals, 12 assists).

The Maple Leafs also announced that forward William Nylander will make his playoff debut tonight in Game 4 against the Boston Bruins. Nylander, 23, has been sidelined with a groin injury since March 31.

The Maple Leafs trail the Bruins 3-0 in the series and will need to win Game 4 to avoid being swept.
